This was originally published under the recording moniker for our old band "Wolf Party," however it was pulled from retailers after a weird copyright infringement dispute that we won. Now that its all been cleared up and we have legal right to release the music again, I decided to go ahead and re-release it under my own name instead as I did these pieces alone before I met my bandmate, Sarah. It also marks a serious turning point in technique and vision for me in my solo work and so I wanted it to be available to everyone once again, and to hopefully serve as an introduction to the new even wilder kinds of compositions I'll be doing. Below is what I wrote about it when it first came out as well as a review for related material from "Underground Tapes Reviews."

Hard Hitting, Industrial, Primal, Tribal, Psychedelic, Electronic and Electro-Acoustic Compositions comprise the latest release from Austin Davis "NO TRIBE." These compositions are a notable evolution of themes and techniques explored in previous Wolf Party releases, and encompass themes of noise, drone, tribalism, industrial music, and electro-acoustic techniques. Just as the name suggests, this release, like many things from myself & Wolf Party, stands on its own, chasing no one and no movement's clout, and rather relishing its place as a true outsider. It caters to no clique, faction, genre, scene or audience. Belonging to no culture or subculture thereof, this release and I the artist behind it, cut our own path and truly claim, "No Tribe."

"This is the type of outsider music that I find to be legit timeless: this never was popular and never will be. Weird (and weirdly recorded) underground music, experimental electronics and such tend to stay outside the popularly accepted/appreciated sterile production styles... has an unexplainable, out-of-time quality as if it were a symbolic time machine - or a legal sonic dose of aural psychedelics! … It’s got that patented acid-damaged mindwarp feel to it... This is primal, psychedelic electronics, some of it aggressive & rhythmic, some movements are droney and trancelike... It has a genuinely tribal, primitive feel."

Merci Déhà for the download code. Lots of bands use these ingredients – pretty female vocals over doomy guitars always sounds good, but usually that's where the ideas run out. That isn't the case here. Each song is packed with ideas and evolutions, genres and references it's boring to list but not at all to listen to. A pleasure to have been introduced to this. Luke
